Dear Scouts and Scouters,
Welcome to the
great outdoors! Throughout Scouting’s history, camping has been the glue
that holds a unit together. There really is something special about camp
– the great outdoors, the smell of pine trees, the experience of setting
up and sleeping in a tent, and of cooking over a fire built by hand.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Camp is where all the lessons taught at the
weekly Scout meetings are put to use. Camp is truly a “mountaintop”
experience – ask any adult who was a Scout as a youth and he will
undoubtedly retell a tale of him and his buddies at camp. Kids who go
camping as part of their Scouting experience are more likely to remain
and grow in the program.
The
Camp
Brochure found on our CAMP FORMS page will give you all the
information you need to plan your camping trip to Katahdin Scout
Reservation or Day Camp. You hold in your hands all the technical
information you need to plan your trip – facilities, fees, directions,
etc. What you don’t have, however, is that smell, that feeling, that
experience of being with nature. No, you’ll have to go to camp for that.
So what are you waiting for? Call the Council office, (207) 866–2241 or
(800) 353-5888, and make your reservation today. Your Scouts will thank
you for it, and you just might have some fun yourself!
See you at camp!
Yours in Scouting,
Michael Cuskelly, Camp Director
