Since the end of
the 2007 camping season at Camp Roosevelt, the Camping
Committee and Program Director (Nathan Sprangers) have been
very busy reviewing the past season and working to improve
upon an already successful program. They've been working on
the 2008 camp season program that will make our youth's
camping experience at KSR even better than last year. Here
is just a few programs ideas that Scouts and their units can
look forward to in the summer of 2008:

New Scout
Program
The New Scout Program is designed for first year Boy Scouts
age 11-12. Designed around Tenderfoot, Second Class, and
First Class rank requirements and reminiscent of
Baden-Powell's first Scout camp on Brownsea Island, it is an
exciting program that helps Scouts obtain the skills and
experiences they need to jump-start their Scouting career. |

Merit
Badge Program
Camp Roosevelt offers over 30 merit badges that can
be achieved at camp, including swimming, small boat
sailing, archery, shotgun, environmental science,
wilderness survival, woodworking, Indian lore, and
many more! There is never a dull day at Camp
Roosevelt with so many opportunities available.
Wetmore Cup
The Wetmore Cup is an ongoing competition throughout the
week between troops and patrols. Last year's events included
tug-of-war, bucket brigade, soccer shoot-out, our very own
KSR Game Show, and the legendary Pamola Relay. This year
brings new challenges and even more opportunities for
teamwork and competition!
C.O.P.E.
For Scouts looking for added challenge and excitement at
camp, we offer our COPE programs. COPE (Challenging Outdoor
Personal Experience) is an intense week of fun and
excitement, pitting you against your own fears and
inhibitions while teaching teamwork and problem solving at
the same time. With both low and high elements, including
the famous zip-line, there are unlimited opportunities for
excitement and adventure waiting for you at our COPE course.
If you've already enjoyed COPE at KSR then sign up for COPE
II for an elevated and advanced experience (requires COPE
I).
Climbing & Rappelling
Climbing is back at KSR! If spending your day hanging 30' in
the air with nothing but a rock face and a rope to support
you sounds exciting, then this is the program for you!
Climbing & rappelling merit badge introduces Scouts to this
high-energy hobby while experienced Scouts that have already
earned this merit badge can take their climbing skills to
the next level with the Advanced Rock Climbing & Bouldering
program.
