Katahdin Area Scout Recruiter

One of the easiest patches to earn, the Recruiter Strip recognizes youth members who successfully recruit a friend into Scouting.  Encourage Scouts to invite their friends to attend a pack or den meeting. Encourage your Scouts to make a personal invitation. Plan special “Bring a Buddy” events where Scouts are encouraged to invite a friend not currently in Scouting. The best recruiter for any unit is an excited Scout engaged in the Scouting program. The easiest way to recruit is having that same Scout share their personal “what-I-did-last-weekend” experiences with a friend.

How to receive the Recruiter Strip

Cub Scouts and Scouts in Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouts may earn the Recruiter Strip by recruiting another youth to join Scouting. A Recruiter Strip (shown above) is awarded to a Cub Scout or older Scout the first time the Scout recruits a friend, relative, classmate, or other acquaintance. The recruiter strip is worn centered directly below the right pocket on the Class A uniform shirt.
A Scout’s first recruiter patch between November 16, 2020 - December 31, 2020 will be provided to the Scout at no cost. Submit the names of both Scouts (recruiter and new Scout) along with the application and fees to the Scout Shop at the Council Service Center to receive your Recruiter Strip.
